Accreditation of the Curricula
One of the principles on which the Academy has based its instruction and study process and followed very consistently since its foundation, is the quality.
The key-words of EAVA quality assurance policy are: openness, efficiency, flexibility.
The activities of the Academy are regulated by the educational acts of Estonia and international legislation in the field of aviation. The Academy is also guided by the Professional Higher Education Institution Act, the University Act, the Standard of Higher Education, the Aviation Act and the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Eurocontrol.
All the curricula have been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia and approved by Estonian Civil Aviation Administration (ECAA). ECAA also checks regularly the quality of instruction and its conformity with international aviation standards.
In addition to the accreditation of the curricula dictated by legislation EAVA has invited different international aviation authorities to assess and audit its study process and curriculum.
The curriculum of the speciality of Air Traffic Control has been audited by the Swedish Air Traffic Services Academy and assessed positively.
The curriculum of the speciality of Aircraft Piloting has been developed in conformity with the Joint Aviation Requirements (JAR) and was co-ordinated by ECAA. It has been audited by the Swedish expert firm Avia Q recognized by JAA and assessed positively.
The curriculum of the speciality of Aviation Company Management has been approved by the administration of Tallinn Airport and assessed positively by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tartu.
The curriculum of Aircraft Maintenance has been developed in conformity with the EASA Part 147 and 66 and co-ordinated by ECAA. The curriculum has been assessed positively by EASA Maintenance Aviation Standardization Team.
In assuring the quality of teaching and training process and in developing the curricula the Board of Councillors and Speciality Councils, both consisting of top experts and specialists of different fields of aviation and representing all the institutions related to aviation in Estonia, have a significant role to play.
