    Maintenance Training Organisation

The aim of aircraft maintenance is to provide for air traffic safety by daily inspection and routine maintenance of the aircraft as prescribed in the technical documentation.

In the course of their studies the trainees are expected to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in their work of daily inspection of all the aircraft control equipment, technical systems on board, powerplant, airframe and navigation and flight instruments.

An engineer of aircraft maintenance should be able to take complicated technical decisions while testing the equipment on board the aircraft and planning the necessary maintenance and repair operations. Aircraft maintenance and repair operations require good skills in handling special mechanical tools and a high sense of responsibility for the quality of maintenance in order to ensure the safety of aircraft operation.

The course of Aircraft Maintenance offers specialization in two subspecialities:

AIRFRAME AND POWERPLANT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING dealing with the maintenance and repair of aircraft airframe and powerplant.

AVIONICS AND INSTRUMENTS MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING dealing with large-scale electrical repair operations. The engineer is expected to be able to read circuit designs, understand systems and handle standard gauges.

An engineer of Aircraft Maintenance should be conversant with technical English.

Practical training in Aircraft Maintenance takes place in Estonian, Finnish and Swedish aviation companies.

The curriculum of Aircraft Maintenance has been approved by the Estonian Civil Aviation Administration as corresponding to the international requirements (Part 66, Part 147) on 05.01.05.
